Volunteer Program Manager

RSPCA South Australia is seeking a passionate and experienced Volunteer Program Manager to lead the strategic and operational delivery of our volunteer program. This pivotal role will help shape the future of volunteering within our organisation, ensuring our dedicated volunteers are supported, engaged, and empowered to make a meaningful impact.

About the Role

As Volunteer Program Manager, you will:

Lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of RSPCA SA’s volunteer program.

Build a safe, skilled, and engaged volunteer workforce that strengthens service delivery across all areas of the organisation.

Oversee volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, engagement, and performance management.

Provide expert advice and coaching to managers and staff on volunteer-related matters.

Ensure compliance with best-practice standards, legislation, and RSPCA SA policies.

Contribute to organisational strategy, workforce planning, and reporting to drive program growth and effectiveness.

This role is hands-on and collaborative, working closely with people leaders, volunteers, and external partners to ensure the volunteer experience is positive, purposeful, and impactful.

About You

We are looking for an energetic and capable leader who can bring people together and drive program excellence. You will have:

Proven experience managing volunteer programs or similar large-scale workforce programs.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships across diverse stakeholders.

Knowledge of compliance, risk, and ethical considerations in volunteer engagement.

High digital literacy and confidence using volunteer management or CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce).

Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Human Resources, Volunteer Management, Community Services) or equivalent experience.

Desirable:

Experience in animal welfare, not-for-profit, or community services.

Knowledge of change management and process improvement.
