The Opportunity
Melton City Libraries is seeking a highly motivated professional, passionate about learning, and the role of literacy and learning within communities.
In this role, you will:
- Facilitate a wide range of partnerships with Council, community, and education providers to enhance learning outcomes for the community.
- Deliver programs and projects aligned to Council’s annual calendar of events, including the City of Melton Learning Festival, Short Story Competition and other dates of significance.
This position is a full-time position reporting to the Team Leader Literacy and Learning Programs. This position will be predominately based at Melton Library and Learning hub, though all Library staff work across all branches.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking proactive project management to ensure the successful delivery of the City of Melton Learning Festival, as well as other identified projects delivering community learning outcomes.
- Initiate and support learning projects, programs, and initiatives that provide enhanced learning outcomes for community as part of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.
- In collaboration with the Team Leader Literacy and Learning, manage effective partnerships and networks with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure maximum learning opportunities are achieved in the City of Melton.
- As a library customer service shift supervisor, provide leadership to staff in the delivery of high-quality customer service across the library service to ensure customers have a positive experience characterised by active engagement.
- Participate in rostered library customer service shifts at library facilities or outreach points and proactively engage with customers to maximise their use of resources, equipment, technology, and online platforms.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification acceptable for professional membership (librarian) of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), or relevant tertiary qualification in learning, education or project management, or lesser formal qualifications with work skills and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience the delivery of learning projects, programs, and initiatives, particularly relating to lifelong learning within a Local Government context is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to adapt communications to identified need and/or purpose, build relationships and gain cooperation with stakeholders with varied levels of understanding and/or experience.
- Hold a current Victorian driver’s licence.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
