About the role

We are looking for an Accountant Financial Accounting to join the Finance team on a permanent full-time basis. The role requires a strong and well-developed ability to analyse financial data to summarise and present proposals for daily cash investments of an ongoing portfolio of approximately $200m.

Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Responsible for timely preparation of accurate Statutory regulated financial reports, monthly and annually with specific compliance to Australian Accounting Standards and appropriate legislation to achieve the corporate objectives outlined in Corporate Plans;
  • Accountable for daily cash flow reconciliation and presentation of investment options aligned to Council Policy and Strategy, related to a large portfolio of over $200m;
  • Accountable for delivery and lodgement of the acquittal of external grants. This requires liaising with funding bodies, program managers, external auditors and executive staff;
  • Prepare segments dealing with borrowings, reserves and infrastructure assets for Statutory reports and associated internal and external audits, Annual budget, Mid year reviews;
  • Provide technical guidance on a broad range of financial matters to the wider organisation

About you

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Commerce or equivalent.
  • Sound, demonstrated knowledge of the legislative and policy requirements in local government
  • Previous experience in an accounting environment with comprehensive exposure to preparing financial reports
  • Sound working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards that apply to local government
  • A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required.

The salary for this position will be from $94,386.53 to $112,499.22 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
