The Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety has an opportunity for an experienced Manager to lead our Service Centre in Bundaberg, ensuring the protection and welfare of children and youth.
Based in the centrally located Bundaberg Child Safety Service Centre (CSSC), you will have the opportunity to lead a service centre with delegated authority and collaborate extensively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community-Controlled Organisations.
Reporting to the Regional Director, you will have 8 direct reports, overseeing a team of 46 including STLs, Senior Practitioners, CPAs, CSOs, CSSOs, SCSSOs and BOs. Your team will look to you for motivation and empowerment, and you will support all staff. You will also be responsible for your centres strategic planning, hiring, onboarding, as well as expenses.
Our Bundaberg CSSC provides vital care and support to children and families across the North-West region of Queensland.
What does being a Service Centre Manager mean?
As the Bundaberg Service Centre Manager, your role will involve:
Developing relationships with agency partners and internal and external stakeholders;
Leading the service centre and mentoring your staff;
Ensuring children’s safety, belonging and wellbeing needs are met;
Managing the Service Centre’s corporate governance, HR, and finance obligations; and
Developing and implementing strategic plans for your Service Centre that align with regional and departmental strategic plans.
Our frontline child safety staff are a voice for the voiceless; for children and young people’s safety and wellbeing under the Child Protection Act 1999. They work in areas including intake, investigation and assessment, ongoing intervention, and placement services. As Service Centre Manager, you’ll provide leadership and guidance across all areas of child protection.

What you need to be Service Centre Manager
As our Bundaberg Service Centre Manager, you will have a strong case management practice background, working with vulnerable people, preferably with children and young people. You will have strong cultural capability and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders.
With strong leadership experience in the community services sector, experience in human services is preferred. You will have:
Comprehensive understanding of statutory roles and the child protection system
Strong experience leading large teams of case managers
Experience with strategic planning and implementation
Experience with budgeting and finance approvals
Experience with HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, staff wellbeing
High-level communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders at different levels
