Mack Civil is seeking an experienced and dedicated HSEQ Officer to join our delivery team on key infrastructure upgrade projects across Sydney. This is a full-time role for a proactive safety professional with a proven record of implementing and driving WHS management systems on complex civil construction projects.

About the Role

As the HSEQ Officer, you will take the lead in day-to-day safety management on site, ensuring that all works comply with legislative, client, and internal WHS requirements. You will work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to foster a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the on-site implementation and monitoring of Mack Civil’s Management Systems

Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with approved SWMS and risk assessments

Coordinate and deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and pre-start meetings

Identify hazards, recommend controls, and ensure corrective actions are tracked to completion

Support and lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis and reporting

Liaise with client WHS representatives and regulatory bodies where required

Maintain detailed safety records, reports, and audit documentation

Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience in WHS management for civil construction projects

Proven ability to implement and monitor WHS systems on projects of comparable scale and complexity

Strong working knowledge of NSW WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and industry guidelines

White Card and relevant WHS qualifications (Cert IV WHS minimum; Diploma preferred)

ICAM Lead Investigator certification (highly regarded)

Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills

Collaborative approach with the ability to engage effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients
