About the role:

This is a new opportunity for the right candidate to join like-minded individuals who are committed to restoring West Australia's unique landscapes and protecting biodiversity.

As a Seed Technician, you will play a pivotal role in supporting successful project outcomes by contributing to on ground native seed collection works. As a Seed Technician you will experience a diverse range of Western Australian landscapes and endemic species through regular remote travel for work.

About the Organisation:

Nativ Carbon’s purpose is to assist industry to deliver on their decarbonisation commitments through the development of biodiverse environmental plantings WA.

We leverage our expertise in bio-diverse native vegetation, project management and access to millions of seedlings to deliver practical offset plantings at scale. Last year Nativ Carbon delivered over 5000ha of environmental plantings throughout regional Western Australia.

Where you fit in:

Nativ Carbon works with companies and organisations who wish to generate Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCU's) through large scale environmental plantings throughout regional Western Australia.

Your role as Seed Technician will be to collect, process and store native seed in accordance with best environmental and industry practices. You will also be responsible for working collaboratively within a small team to achieve successful project outcomes.

This role would suit an individual who has the flexibility and willingness to work regionally across remote WA locations. This opportunity would suit someone who has completed or working towards completing a relevant environmental certification looking to enter the industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Adhering to workplace safety systems

Collect seed from native vegetation in accordance with best environmental practice

Processing / cleaning of native seed for storage

Weighing and storing seed to maintain highest viability

Contribute to ongoing maintenance and management of seedbank facility

Ongoing management and maintenance of equipment

Correct identification of target Wheatbelt and Swan Coastal Plain species

Accurate daily record keeping

The ideal candidate will have:

Background in the environmental industry, attained or working towards a relevant qualification.

Experience adhering to workplace safety systems.

Willingness and capability to work outdoors in a field-based position, in varying weather conditions, including hot summer months.

Experience driving 4WD vehicles in off-road environments.

Experience towing, reversing and manoeuvring trailers in tight or off-road conditions.

Experience working collaboratively within small teams to achieve environmental goals.

Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.

Current unrestricted Driver's License.

Flexibility to work regionally on a regular basis.

Eligibility to work in Australia (citizenship or permanent residency).

Desirable Skills and Experience:

Experience utilising a variety of plant identification methods.

Knowledge of Wheatbelt and Swan Coastal Plain species.

Weed species knowledge.

Experience safely operating and maintaining power tools such as chainsaws and pole saws.

Current First Aid certification (ideally Advanced or Remote).

Experience working in remote locations.

Experience working in a cross-cultural environment with the cultural context when working with Aboriginal or other Indigenous peoples.

This role is a permanent full-time position. A 6-month probation period will apply.

Commencement: The successful candidate must be available to commence work on 29th December 2025.

Salary range: $60,000 - $75,000pa
