About the program
The Dubbo Medicare Mental Health Centre (MMHC), supported by Western NSW Primary Health Network through the Australian Government's PHN Program, is a free, safe and welcoming service where community members can access mental health advice, supports and services. No appointment or referral is required, and walk-ins are always welcome.
About the opportunity
As a Community Engagement Worker with Wellways, you'll help ensure the Dubbo MMHC is community-driven, inclusive and responsive to local needs. Your work will strengthen wellbeing, build partnerships and create opportunities for individuals, families and communities to connect and thrive.
In this role, you will:
- Empower communities to support one another in maintaining social and emotional wellbeing
- Establish referral pathways with health, social and community services
- Facilitate initiatives that promote inclusion and build capacity for stronger, healthier communities
- Ensure community voice and needs are at the centre of MMHC services
What You'll Bring
- Certificate IV in Social Science/Community Development (or relevant experience)
- Understanding of community development principles and mental health recovery
- Experience working in human services, community development, or related sectors
- Skills in partnership-building, social inclusion and person-centred practice
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
Required Compliance
- Right to work within Australia
- 100 points of identification
- Current valid Driver's Licence and the ability to undertake some travel
- Satisfactory National Police Records Check
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children's Check (Employee)
