Your opportunity
Are you ready to take the next step in growing our place-based and partnership work at Mission Australia?

We're seeking a Community Partnerships Project Officer to help embed person-led practice and innovative community development approaches across our organisation. In this role, you'll work closely with local teams, community leaders, and internal partners to strengthen collaboration, amplify community voice, and support the delivery of our commitment to thriving communities nationwide. Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Support best practice implementation by contributing to the design, development and embedding of place-based and person-led practice across Communities of Focus and other priority initiatives.
• Drive innovation and improvement by translating evaluation insights into refined approaches, ensuring continuous learning and adaptation of Strengthening Communities and place-based frameworks.
• Enable community participation through expert advisory and project support to strengthen co-design and participatory methodologies in service design and innovation projects.
• Strengthen organisational frameworks by reviewing, refining and communicating national partnership and community development frameworks, tools and resources.
• Build organisational capability by facilitating Communities of Practice and delivering learning and development initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge in place and partnership practice.
• Communicate outcomes and impact by developing high-quality communication materials and thought leadership content to showcase progress, impact and innovation in community-led change.
• Foster cross-sector collaboration by building and maintaining effective relationships with internal teams, community leaders and external partners to strengthen collective impact and knowledge sharing.

Requirements for success

• Relevant tertiary qualification in social sciences, community development, human services, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience in place-based, community-led, or participatory approaches, including co-design and collective impact initiatives.
• Experience in working within First Nations and/or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse contexts will be considered positively.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver projects across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to translate research, evaluation, and community insights into practical strategies, frameworks, or tools.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to adapt to emerging needs and drive continuous improvement in community and partnership practices.
• Experience facilitating learning, capacity-building, or Communities of Practice to strengthen organisational capability.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
