We are seeking a Junior Accountant (Contractor) to support our finance team during this exciting growth phase. This is a hands-on role that offers exposure to dealership operations and a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone early in their accounting career to develop their skills with the potential to move into a permanent position based on performance.

Role Overview

The Junior Accountant will assist with day-to-day accounting tasks, data entry, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will ensure that transactions are processed accurately and that financial records are well maintained to support decision-making and compliance.

This is a contract position, suitable for someone who is immediately available and ready to step in to provide essential support while demonstrating their potential for long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice entry, matching, and payment preparation.

Support bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.

Help prepare month-end journals and assist in closing processes.

Maintain accurate and organised financial documentation and filing systems.

Support the preparation of BAS statements and other compliance reports.

Assist in generating financial reports for management review.

Provide ad-hoc administrative and accounting support as required.

Identify opportunities to improve processes and maintain high standards of accuracy.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or currently studying).

1+ year of experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally in retail, automotive, or multi-site environments.

Understanding of basic accounting principles and month-end processes.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or similar).

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Ability to work independently, manage tasks, and meet deadlines.

Full Australian work rights are required for this position.

Desirable:

Working towards CPA or CA qualification.

Familiarity with Australian tax regulations and Fair Work compliance.

Previous experience in the automotive industry is an advantage.
