Exciting Opportunity for an Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a talented and motivated Industrial Electrical Engineer to design, implement, and maintain electrical systems in industrial environments. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, industrial automation, and control systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing projects from concept to completion, working closely with clients, and ensuring compliance with Australian electrical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Design and Engineering:
Design and develop electrical systems for industrial applications, including power distribution, control systems, and automation.
Prepare detailed electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
Perform electrical load calculations, fault current analysis, and equipment selection to ensure optimal system performance.
Design Installations for Hazardous Areas (Preferable not essential, training will be provided)
2. Project Management:
Lead electrical engineering projects from planning through execution, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electricians, and project managers, to deliver successful project outcomes.
Conduct regular project reviews, risk assessments, and provide progress reports to management and clients.
3. System Testing and Troubleshooting:
Oversee the commissioning and testing of electrical systems, ensuring proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
Diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues related to power systems, automation, and control panels.
Perform system optimization and recommend improvements to increase reliability, efficiency, and safety.
4. Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all electrical designs and installations comply with relevant Australian electrical standards and safety regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and safety audits on electrical systems, implementing measures to minimise hazards.
Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, best practices, and emerging technologies to ensure all projects meet current requirements.
5. Automation and Control Systems:
Design and integrate control systems, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and automation technologies, to optimise industrial processes.
Collaborate with software engineers and technicians to program and troubleshoot PLC systems.
Ensure that all automation systems are integrated effectively with existing industrial processes.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial electrical engineering, with a focus on design, automation, and power systems.
Proven experience managing and/or contributing to electrical projects in an industrial setting, such as manufacturing, oil & gas, mining, or water utilities.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in electrical design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, PowerCAD or similar.
Strong knowledge of pump and motor controls including integration of VSDs and Soft Starters.
Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, PLCs, and automation technologies (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.).
Familiarity with Australian electrical standards and WHS regulations.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Project management experience, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
