About the Role
Smith & Co is a specialist recruitment agency with deep roots across engineering, mechanical, civil, and energy sectors. We’ve built our reputation on genuine relationships, industry knowledge, and connecting the right people with the right companies.

We are now looking for a Recruitment Consultant to join our team and take ownership of our Engineering & Mechanical desk. The role is designed to suit both experienced recruiters wanting to hit the ground running, and up-and-coming consultants looking to grow into a high-performing desk.

You’ll work across both permanent and temporary recruitment (or focus on one if that’s your preference) with the freedom to shape the desk around your strengths. This is not a cold start — you’ll inherit a mix of warm client relationships, ongoing roles, and strong candidate networks, while still having plenty of room to put your own stamp on things.

Unlike larger agencies, we don’t operate with blanket KPIs or micro-management. Instead, we give you the support, tools, and autonomy to run your desk your way. You’ll be trusted to manage your clients, grow your business pipeline, and deliver results — and in return, you’ll benefit from an uncapped commission structure with no threshold, meaning your earning potential is entirely in your hands.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end recruitment cycle across engineering & mechanical roles
• Build strong client partnerships with exsisting clients and expand business opportunities in your sector
• Source, interview, and present top candidates for both temp and perm positions
• Negotiate offers and guide candidates through smooth placement processes
• Contribute to the growth of the agency with new ideas and collaborative input

What You’ll Bring

• Proven experience in recruitment (agency or internal), ideally within technical, engineering, or trade-related industries
• Confidence managing both temp and perm recruitment, or the desire to specialise in one area
• Commercial mindset with the ability to identify and convert new business opportunities
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both clients and candidates
• A proactive, results-driven approach combined with a team-focused attitude

Salary & Benefits

• $60K–$90K plus super base salary depending on experience
• Uncapped commission structure, no threshold
• 1 day WFH per week + flex hours (start and finish when it suits you)
