The Role
As the Business Manager, you will be a strategic leader working closely with the Chief Early Childhood Officer and executive leadership team to shape the future direction of SCECE&C’s services. This influential role requires high-level oversight of financial, operational, and infrastructure functions across our early learning centres. You will lead transformational projects, drive sustainability and innovation, and ensure organisational excellence through strategic planning, robust financial stewardship, and operational effectiveness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing high-level strategic leadership and supporting the Chief Early Childhood Officer in corporate planning.
- Leading financial management and analysis, including complex budgeting, forecasting, and board-level reporting.
- Overseeing major capital projects, property development, and contract negotiations.
- Embedding a culture of continuous improvement and compliance across business systems and risk frameworks.
- Building strong partnerships with government, church, and community stakeholders to support growth.
- Leading cross-functional teams to deliver value, efficiency, and high-impact outcomes for children and families.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
· A tertiary qualification in Business Management, Accounting, Commerce, Economics or a related field.
· Extensive experience in business leadership and financial management.
· Proven ability to lead projects, manage risks, and deliver sustainable outcomes.
· High-level interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
· A commitment to Catholic values and child safety.
· Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
Key Selection Criteria (to be addressed in your application):
· A tertiary qualification in Business Management, Commerce, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
· Proven experience in business operations and strategic financial management.
Demonstrated ability to work at an executive level and lead finance and administrative teams.
· Experience in leading capital works, including managing budgets, WHS, risk, and project delivery.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders.
A collaborative leadership style with the ability to inspire high performance in teams.
· Knowledge and experience in managing risk, compliance, contracts, and insurance frameworks.
Ability to oversee property maintenance and ensure regulatory and legislative compliance.
· A strong commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of SCECE&C Ltd.
Demonstrated understanding of child safety principles and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
