Our client, a new business supplying educational resources to schools, is seeking a commercially minded Finance & Operations Manager to oversee finance, operations, and distribution. This is a rare opportunity to join a well-funded startup with experienced leadership at a critical growth stage.
You’ll be a trusted commercial partner across the business—bringing sound accounting discipline, operational oversight, and a focus on efficiency to a fast-paced, product-rich environment.
About the Role
This dual role blends financial control with operational management. Reporting directly to the founders, you’ll take ownership of finance while also leading daily operations in a small distribution centre. Working closely with the Warehouse Manager, you’ll ensure smooth running of logistics, staff performance, and customer fulfilment.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Commercial:
Ownership of GL, AP, AR and all core accounting functions
Prepare monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reporting
Manage statutory and tax compliance obligations
Develop and deliver business performance reporting and margin analysis
Lead integration and optimisation of business systems to drive efficiency
Operations & Distribution:
Oversee daily operations of a small distribution centre
Supervise the Warehouse Manager and support warehouse staff
Monitor workflow, productivity, and order fulfilment accuracy
Ensure WHS and compliance standards are met
Drive continuous improvement in supply chain and logistics processes
About You
CA-qualified with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
Strong technical accounting and financial control experience
Business services/audit background preferred, ideally with some industry experience
Proven ability to manage or supervise teams in an operational environment
Excellent systems understanding—confident implementing efficiencies
A commercial thinker who enjoys both strategic planning and hands-on involvement
Clear communicator who thrives in a small, fast-moving team environment
