Liveliness, fun and engagement in meaningful activity is at the heart of the care we provide to the residents of KOPWA. We are searching for a special person to lead our lifestyle team and ensure our home continues to be filled with singing, laughter and activity.

In this role you will develop and oversee a lifestyle program that reflects the resident's preferences and enables individuals to maximise their abilities with an appreciation of the physical, social, cultural and religious background each person brings into the home.

About you:

Self-directed, innovative, creative and passionate about the delivery of activities. You will be a problem solver and strong communicator, able to adapt your style and approach depending on the needs of residents. Your leadership will ensure the ongoing development and growth of the lifestyle officers in your team.

Responsibilities

· Design, implement, deliver and evaluate lifestyle programs that meet residents needs

· Ensure residents diverse backgrounds are recognised and celebrated, including cultural celebrations as appropriate

· Regularly solicit feedback from residents on activities to guide future activities planning

· Organise community activities and special events

· Participate in risk assessments, and ensure appropriate risk mitigation strategies, are in place for all activities

· Chair and participate in Resident and Relatives Meetings in conjunction with the Director of Nursing

· Develop and distribute the resident newsletter

· Lead and develop a small team of recreation and activities officers and volunteers

· Engage with community groups to build a network of support and social partners

· Participate in the Behavioural Support Planning with our clinical team

About you

· Cert IV in Leisure and Lifestyle

· Previous experience gained in a similar role

· Ability to take initiative and flex programs and style according to resident needs

· Strong relationship building skills and ability to form trusting relationships with residents

· High level of patience and understanding in interactions with residents who have a cognitive impairment

· Highly developed organisation / time management skills

· Ability to think critically about the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of the work you do

· The ability to solve problems independently

· Warm, creative, confident and engaging

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· NDIS Check

· Cleared from the Aged Care Banning Register
