About the Role
We are proud to announce two new opportunities to join YWCA Canberra’s Domestic Violence Support Service (DVSS) - a program dedicated to providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and empowering support to children and young people (aged 0-17) and their parents/carers who have been impacted by domestic, family or sexual violence (DFSV).
We’re recruiting for:
Child-Focused DFSV Worker (0-8 years)

These roles are ideal for passionate, community-minded professionals who want to make a real difference in the lives of children and families impacted by domestic and family violence.
Grounded in feminist, strength-based, child-centred, family-focused, gender and trauma-informed practice. It involves:
Direct Support & Case Management
Conducting risk assessments and safety planning with protective parents and children.
Delivering centre-based and outreach support to children and young people impacted by domestic, family or sexual violence (DFSV).
Providing short-term advocacy, information, and support to access developmentally appropriate services.
Conducting assessments, developing individualised support plans, providing evidence-based interventions and maintaining accurate case notes and documentation.
Empowerment & Relationship Building
Supporting children, young people and families to build resilience, foster healthy relationships, and recover from violence.
Strengthening the parent-child relationship through communication, trust, and emotional development.
Facilitating evidence-based group programs for children, young people, and parents.
Collaboration & Coordination
Working in a team-based approach to identify and coordinate services.
Collaborating with agencies like Onelink, Legal Aid, ACT Police, schools, and others.
Participating in case coordination meetings and maintaining strong cross-sector relationships.

You are an empathetic and community-minded professional with a strong foundation in social work, psychology, human services, or community services (Diploma or higher). You bring at least 2 years’ experience supporting women, children, young people and families impacted by domestic, family, or sexual violence and you're confident working in both crisis response and planned support settings.
The right person will have
