About the Role

Switchboard Operators manage a nucleus of information for staff, patients, relatives and external agencies. St Vincent's Switchboard is located within the Inpatient Services Building at Fitzroy and operates 24 hours 7 days per week.

The classification for this position will be HS1 ($58,442 per annum pro rata)

Duties

• Hospital Switchboard operations - Ensure Calls are answered in an appropriate manner and all callers are treated in a polite and courteous manner
• Demonstrate high levels of communication skills appropriate to Switchboard functions
• Operation and management of Hospital Paging system
• Receipt, management and coordination of all Emergency Codes
• Provide accurate patient enquiry information

Selection Criteria

• Experience in a health service environment
• Demonstrated high level communication and organisational skills
• Strong computer literacy
• Sound typing skills
• Experience in working in a switchboard setting
