Senior Plumber (Water & Sewer)/Gasfitter

Location: Pormpuraaw, Queensland

The Role: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Plumber (Water & Sewer)/Gasfitter to lead our plumbing and essential services team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of essential services, contributing to the well-being and satisfaction of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement operational procedures and maintenance schedules for water reticulation infrastructure, including the water treatment plant and Splash Park.

Conduct water testing, maintain infrastructure, and ensure compliance with the Drinking Water Quality Management Plan (DWQMP).

Oversee the operational maintenance of wastewater infrastructure, ensuring 100% compliance with wastewater management guidelines.

Perform plumbing and gas maintenance and repair works as required by the council.

Provide training and supervision to department staff and subcontractors to ensure compliance with statutory regulations.

Maintain department work areas and associated facilities, ensuring all equipment and tools are accounted for, clean, and in good working order.

Organise and facilitate the delivery and installation of 45kg gas bottles.

Interact with the public in a courteous and respectful manner, aiming for 100% positive customer feedback.

Lead and ensure a culture of safety to minimize the risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life.

Selection Criteria:

1. Extensive Plumbing Experience: You have a wealth of experience in plumbing and a deep understanding of legislative requirements. Your background demonstrates your ability to handle complex plumbing tasks with ease.

2. Technical Expertise: You are known for providing sound and reliable technical advice. Your insights are valued and trusted by the council.

3. Operational Leadership: You excel at overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of water reticulation and wastewater infrastructure. Your leadership ensures everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

4. Water Quality Management: You have hands-on experience managing water operations in line with Drinking Water Quality standards. Your expertise ensures the highest quality of water for the community.

5. Compliance Inspections: You have a proven track record of conducting compliance inspections of sanitary plumbing and drainage installations. Your attention to detail ensures everything meets the required standards.

6. Staff Supervision: You are skilled in supervising and coordinating staff. Your leadership fosters a productive and collaborative work environment.

7. Plumbing and Sewer Systems: You possess detailed knowledge and experience in laying water and sewer pipes and residential plumbing. Your expertise is second to none.

8. Legislative Compliance: You are adept at conducting investigations and resolving alleged contraventions of statutory legislation. Your thorough approach ensures compliance and resolution.

9. Team Collaboration: You are committed to a team-based approach and excel at working cooperatively within a team environment. Your collaborative spirit helps achieve council goals and departmental projects.

10. Technical Proficiency: You are proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel, and you communicate effectively via email. Your technical skills enhance your efficiency and productivity.

11. QBCC Occupational License for Plumbing & Drainage, Gas Work License & Qld C Class Driver's License are mandatory requirements for this role.
