About the Role
Geo-Con is seeking a skilled and experienced Workshop Foreman to lead our Brisbane team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for the daily operations of our workshop, ensuring our specialized equipment is built, serviced, and repaired to the highest standards. You'll lead a small, dedicated team, manage workflow, and maintain a safe and productive work environment. You will be required to manage stock levels, spare parts, works orders.
One of the main Kpi's will be to grow the manufacturing sector of the business, focusing on bringing in outside work.
We are looking for someone who is looking for a long term role, as this role will take a lot of learning we are only seeking people in it for the long run, as most employees here are 10+ years
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and mentor a team of workshop staff.
· Oversee all workshop activities, including the fabrication, assembly, repair, and servicing of our testing equipment.
· Coordinate job scheduling and workflow to meet operational deadlines and priorities.
· Ensure quality control and strict adherence to industry standards.
· Maintain a safe and organized workshop, including the proper use and care of tools and equipment.
· Troubleshoot and problem-solve technical issues with a strong focus on quality and detail.
· Collaborate with the operations team to prioritize projects and ensure seamless communication.
Skills & Qualifications
· A trade qualification in mechanical fitting, machining, or a similar field.
· Extensive experience with manual machining (lathe/mill).
· Proven welding skills (MIG/TIG/Stick) and general fabrication experience.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
· Prior supervisory or foreman experience is highly preferred.
· Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, or electrical troubleshooting is a plus.
· A valid forklift license and other relevant workshop tickets are desirable.
· High attention to detail and a sound knowledge of measuring instruments
