About the Opportunity

A fantastic opportunity exists for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join a progressive and dynamic local government organisation based in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

In this strategic role, you’ll work closely with department heads to drive financial performance, support budget planning, and influence key operational and strategic decisions. You’ll also play a vital role in improving financial systems and processes across the organisation.

This is a contract role that will initially start as 3 months with the possibility to extend from there.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality financial analysis and insights to support business decisions.
• Partner with Directors and Managers to understand financial performance and drive improvements.
• Lead and support annual budget preparation and quarterly forecasting.
• Contribute to long-term financial planning and business case modelling.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and audit responses.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in financial processes and reporting.
• Conduct monthly finance meetings and build financial capability across departments.

What You’ll Bring

• A degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.
• CPA or CA qualification (or working towards).
• Strong financial analysis and business partnering experience.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and large ERP systems.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate complex financial information clearly.
• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
