Our client is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting our community through meaningful services and initiatives.
Now seeking a skilled Payroll Officer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a hands-on role where you will take ownership of processing payroll and providing accurate, timely support across the full employee lifecycle. With exposure to a complex enterprise agreement and a range of employee benefits, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in a purpose-driven organisation.
The Role
Process end-to-end payroll accurately and autonomously for approx. 375 FTE.
Maintain and update employee records in MicroPay.
Respond to payroll queries via the shared inbox in a professional and timely manner.
Ensure compliance with complex enterprise agreement provisions and relevant legislation, including long service leave, parental leave top-ups, and other entitlements.
Perform payroll reconciliations, reporting, and variance analysis.
Use Excel (intermediate–advanced) to calculate formulas, create pivot tables, and perform data analysis to support payroll processing.
Work closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure payroll policies, procedures, and controls are adhered to.
Support audits and compliance checks as required.
Contribute to process improvements in a highly manual payroll environment.
The Person
Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end payroll independently.
Strong systems knowledge; experience with Connx MicroPay is highly desirable.
Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data reconciliation).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll matters clearly and professionally.
High attention to detail and accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
A solid understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including long service leave and parental leave.
Experience working with enterprise agreements in a complex environment.
Additional Information
A 12-month fixed-term contract with potential for extension / permanency later down the line (not guaranteed).
Hybrid working arrangements – up to 3 days WFH (more time in-office initially for onboarding/training).
