About the role:
Are you a passionate Youth Worker seeking to join an experienced organisation providing innovative care and exceptional outcomes to children and young people in out-of-home care?
The Youth Worker is responsible for providing young people with support that is in line with the young person’s goals, case plans, and transitions to adulthood planning. The Youth Worker will assist young people to live independently in their place of residence.
This role directly supports the day-to-day routine of young people, providing quality, safe care and guidance within their living environment and the community.
This role directly supports the day-to-day routine of young people, providing quality, safe care and guidance within a SILs Supported Independent Living (SILS) Framework, Outreach and Respite programs in Gladstone.
Casuals can earn up to $47.16 per hour depending on experience and qualifications with penalty rates as high as $100+ per hour on public holidays.
About you:
Demonstrated experience in developing and building positive rapport with a range of stakeholders, including community members, young people, carers, fellow staff.
Experience in working with indigenous communities and culturally diverse people and communities.
Understanding or direct experience in child protection or similar industry
Knowledge of complex trauma, neglect and other factors related to why children and young people are placed in out of home care. Passion for helping Young People and driving positive outcomes
Knowledge and experience working with young people with cognitive, social, developmental; and behavioural needs.
Experience in the engagement, assessment and intervention with young people and relevant stakeholders
Demonstrated commitment to achieving positive outcomes for young people using a valuing and strengths-based approach.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including debriefing, conflict resolution, negotiation, mediation, public speaking, promotional communication and reporting writing.
The Youth Worker will:
Undertake day to day activities will involve coaching, mentoring, training, and modelling to build their life skills, support positive decision making, access opportunities and achieve life and plan goals
Make linkages and build relationships and referral pathways to maintain or create a range of local support for young people that facilitates them living the life of their choosing in their own community
Positively influence and contribute to a service and team culture that focusses on meeting the Young People’s goals using evidence informed practice
Transport and support of young people in various activities or appointments that are important to their development and growth (therefore a current drivers licence is required)
Training/Qualifications
Have a Cert IV Child, Youth & Family Intervention (or similar); or
Be willing to enrol in a Cert IV Child, Youth & Family Intervention (or similar); or
Have another recognised qualification in Community, Youth Work or Human Services or relevant diploma or tertiary qualification.
Have or be willing to enrol in Hope & Healing Training.
Have, or be willing to obtain, a current First Aid and CPR certificate
Demonstrate ability to work within legislation, regulations, quality and statutory standards
Be able to work collaboratively within a team
Have professional integrity and discretion
Flexibility to work various shifts inc. overnight requirements
