Manager - Care
Full-time | Based in Goonellabah
St Carthage’s Community Care has been supporting people in the Northern Rivers for more than 30 years, supporting older people, people with disabilities and their carers. We are a values-driven, for-purpose organisation committed to helping people live independently, stay connected, and enjoy a life of dignity and inclusion. Together with the Cathedral Parish, our work is grounded in the values and ethos of the Catholic Church.
We are seeking an experienced and values-aligned Care Manager to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight of our community care (in-home aged care & disability) services. This is not a facility-based role; it is a unique opportunity to oversee care delivered in people’s homes and communities, ensuring clients receive safe, compassionate, and responsive services that enrich their everyday lives. This pivotal role ensures the delivery of person-centred and evidence-based care, while building workforce capability and ensuring compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards and NDIS Practice Standards.
About the role
As Manager – Care, you’ll lead our care and nursing teams, supporting Registered and Enrolled Nurses, and guiding our clinical programs. You’ll be the clinical escalation point for complex matters, lead governance and quality systems, and work closely with our leadership team to strengthen & grow services, support workforce development, and build strong community partnerships across Northern NSW.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Providing clinical leadership, direction, and supervision to nursing and care staff.
Leading clinical governance, including audits, incident reviews, and accreditation readiness.
Overseeing clinical assessment, care planning, and review processes to ensure safe, person-centred outcomes across our care services.
Partnering with People & Culture to build workforce capability through supervision, mentoring, training and professional development.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, registration standards, and quality frameworks.
Working closely with the Finance Manager to understand clinical budgets, staffing models, and ensure efficient use of resources.
Managing day-to-day care operations to deliver high-quality services within approved budgets.
Providing accurate data and insights to support financial planning, reporting, and resource allocation.
Collaborating with external health, aged care, and disability networks across Northern NSW to strengthen partnerships.
Contributing as a member of the Parish leadership team to strategy, planning, and sustainable service delivery.
What we’re looking for

Registered Nurse (RN) with minimum 5 years’ post-registration clinical experience.
Current AHPRA registration and compliance with NMBA standards.
Strong clinical skills across community aged care and disability services.
Proven experience supervising and supporting nursing staff.
Demonstrated knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards and NDIS Practice Standards.
Collaborative leadership style with the ability to build strong relationships across teams and with the community.
Well-developed leadership, people management and governance skills.
Strong connections across Northern NSW aged care, disability, or health networks.
Desirable
Post-graduate qualifications in aged care, community nursing, clinical leadership, or related fields.
Experience with home-based care programs (HCP, CHSP) and NDIS service delivery.
Experience in accreditation processes, audits, and regulatory investigations.
Understanding of budgets and contribution to business growth initiatives.

Valid First Aid Certificate
Current NSW Driver’s Licence and comprehensively insured motor vehicle
