Are you a skilled civil design professional ready to shape the future of community infrastructure? A progressive local government authority in Melbourne's west is seeking a Design Engineer to join its Planning & Development team, contributing to a diverse portfolio of capital works projects.

Your new role
As a Design Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in the planning and delivery of civil infrastructure designs, including roads, drainage, traffic treatments, parks, and sporting facilities. You'll be responsible for preparing detailed design plans, managing consultants, coordinating investigations, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and codes of practice.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop computer-generated design plans for capital works projects.
• Prepare engineering computations, cost estimates, and contract specifications.
• Manage external consultants and coordinate geotechnical investigations and surveys.
• Respond to community enquiries and investigate infrastructure issues such as stormwater and drainage.
• Support the development of engineering policies and procedures.
• Ensure public safety and compliance with relevant legislation and standards.

What you'll need to succeed
You're a proactive and detail-oriented engineer with a passion for community-focused design. You bring strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in civil design, particularly roads and drainage.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles in a local government context.
• Excellent time management and stakeholder engagement skills.
