About the role

Tennant Creek Women's Refuge Inc is seeking a Casual Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Tennant Creek, NT. This is a casual position to provide support and assistance to women and children residing at our refuge. As a Casual Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of our residents.

What you'll be doing

Providing a welcoming, safe and supportive environment for residents

Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the refuge, including cooking, cleaning and general administration

Offering emotional support, advocacy and referrals to external services as needed

Facilitating activities and programs to promote the health and personal development of residents

Maintaining accurate client records and reporting

Hours will vary, as well as day/night shifts

Adhering to all organisational policies, procedures and relevant legislation

What we're looking for

Previous experience in a similar role within the community services or housing/homelessness sector

A strong understanding of the issues faced by women and children experiencing domestic and family violence

Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills

The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

A commitment to empowering and supporting vulnerable individuals

Relevant qualifications in community services, social work or a related field are highly regarded
