Paraplanner wizard | Melbourne | Build beautiful financial plans

WANTED: PARAPLANNER / MODELLING WIZARD

Melbourne CBD (Hybrid office & flexible work options)
Full-time | Rask Advice

About Rask Advice

At Rask, we do financial planning differently. We believe advice should be simple, transparent and genuinely useful.

We offer fixed annual advice fees with comprehensive financial planning that helps Aussies cut through the noise, trust their adviser, understand their options and make confident money decisions.

Our work sits inside the wider Rask ecosystem, home to a community of more than 300,000 Australians who tune into our podcasts, read our research and complete our free courses. Rask exists to empower and educate the community.

We’re growing fast — and we’re searching for a gun Paraplanner who wants to help us lead the future of financial advice and become the #1 financial planning firm in Australia.

The gig

This isn’t your typical paraplanning role (no dusty old SOAs, paperwork or endless admin). At Rask Advice, you’ll be:

Collaborating with our financial advisers and associates. Our planning approach is agile. You're not a cog in a wheel, but an advanced problem solving machine (who collabs on beautiful charts and graphics with our design team in Canva).

Modelling advanced strategies in RetireMap (advanced tax modelling), ProductRex (simple product comparisons), Canva (for pretty stuff) and Google Sheets (for cashflow or when software just doesn't cut it).

Shaping plans that are simple, smart and actually make sense to clients. Some of our SOAs are 15-20 pages - including the yucky disclaimers and product tables. You'll have a direct impact on the final outcomes for clients by offering clarity and care in your work.

Your job? Turn the complicated world of tax, structuring, super and investing into something clients can easily understand — and get excited about (our community is "weird" like that, and we love it).

Your superpowers

We’re looking for someone who:

Has 2-3+ years of paraplanning experience - you must know your way around strategy and thrive when thinking about tax structures. Here's the test: you have modelled family trusts and bucket companies alongside investment bonds and Super (or at least you could do it with a bit of focus). Bonus points if you have modelled 7-10 entities in one plan.

Pays close attention to detail (but definitely doesn’t get lost in it). In other words, you see the forest (client goals) from the trees (individual strategies).

Understands tax, super and wealth planning at a practical level. For example, why is it beneficial to distribute trust earnings to a bucket company over a minor? Why use a trust instead of an investment bond?

Brings energy and creativity to a role most firms treat like an afterthought. Our team is not looking for a "paraplanner" (we just had to put that in Seek for the SEO). We're looking for a 'tax and investment modelling genius’. You'll be treated as such, and rewarded for it, too.

Thrives in a growth culture where ideas and initiative are celebrated. We expect you to grow in this role, refine and help build systems, learn new skills and so on. Pack your bags for personal growth.

Nice-to-haves (bonus points if you tick a few of these):

University qualified in accounting, financial planning, commerce, economics or similar. We pay fairly - so if you're registered on TPB as a tax agent, have a CA, multiple degrees or other experience, we'll appreciate that.

A demonstrable passion for investing and markets you can’t help but share. Everyone is passionate about making money. But can you prove it? Rask is built by investors, for investors.

Fun hobbies or interests (strategy games, video games, side projects — we love curious people).

A background in team activities — whether it’s team sports, scouts, debate club, or run clubs (yes, they all count… but no, tennis doesn’t).

A time machine. Or a map to the fountain of youth. Financial planning has made us older than we actually are.

Tools & strategies

Tools we use: RetireMap (XPLAN = 🤮), ProductRex (for product comparisons), Canva (for designing cashflow, entity maps and charts 🎨), Google Workspace (coz Teams reminds us of Skype) and Apple hardware only (for advanced security, reliability and because people actually want to feel good when they work... surprise surprise). For Ultra High Net Worth or specialist clients, we'll use custom software and you can definitely expect to do your own Google Sheets modelling - we do LOTS of custom tax and investment modelling. Our CRM is Active Campaign.

If any of this makes you sweat, don't. We'll help you learn - if you're prepared to do it. Our workflows are remarkably simple. And RetireMap is way easier to use than XPLAN. And, of course, once you go Mac, you never go back.

Strategies you'll model: debt recycling and redraw, lines of credit against houses for large ETF portfolios, core & satellite portfolios across entities, multi-entity tax optimisation for families and HNW/UHNW individuals (e.g. $20m+ net worth), personal/life insurances, higher level cashflow modelling (individual and across entities like trusts and bucket companies), lots of property entry and exit strategies (we tell clients "we do everything up to, and around, a property transaction"), all of the Superannuation strategies for sequencing and boosting Super, and so on. Typically, it's a combination of most of these!

Why NOT join Rask?

You like XPLAN or Microsoft is your happy place.

You want to be treated like a cog in a firm that doesn't care much.

You're are not willing to keep learning and improving yourself

You don't thrive in a fast paced, scrappy, young-professional energy environment.

So why join Rask?

Because we’re not like everyone else.

Here’s what you’ll get with us:

Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 + Super (depending on experience).

Flexibility: Hybrid working — work from home, work from the office, or a mix of both. We like to have the team in the office 3 days per week. It's a nice office with free coffee, Coke (no sugar, of course), organic fruit and relaxed atmosphere.

Education: Ongoing support for further study and professional growth. We'll pay to put you through a Masters of financial planning if you really want it.

Team culture: Extra supportive, ultra collaborative, quietly ambitious — and never boring.

Higher performance: Everyone is held accountable and expects to receive feedback - if you're a high performer, you'll thrive.

Impact: The work you do will genuinely shape the financial futures of everyday Australians.

Final word

If you’re looking for a "job" where you’ll be hidden in the back office writing plans nobody reads… this is not the place.

If you want to use your skills to build modern, powerful, client-first financial plans — while growing your career inside one of Australia’s (hopefully) fastest-growing advice businesses — then we’d love to hear from you.

Do NOT apply via Seek

We get smashed with job candidates, which is awesome. But overwhelming. Instead, send your cover letter and resume to us directly on our website.
