Green Light Worldwide is partnered with and assiting our client, a leading provider of integrated infrastructure services across Australia and New Zealand. Our client is seeking an Automation and Orchestration Technician to deliver a cyber-hardened, integrated, sustainable, and networked mission system that enables the Defence Force to enhance it's capability.

The Automation and Orchestration Technician will be required to perform and/or have responsibility for duties including, but not limited to:

• Design, develop, and maintain automation playbooks and roles using Ansible for provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment across distributed systems.
• Implement reusable, modular automation code and contribute to shared code repositories following best practices (GitOps, CI/CD).
• Standardize system provisioning and reduce manual intervention through automated workflows.
• Integrate orchestration platforms (e.g., Ansible Tower/AWX, Kubernetes, Terraform) to manage and coordinate multi-component systems.
• Support containerized workloads, orchestration pipelines, and infrastructure automation pipelines across hybrid environments.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in Ansible development (roles, playbooks, modules) in enterprise-scale environments.
• Familiarity with orchestration and IaC tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, or Ansible Tower/AWX.
• Strong Linux system administration skills and understanding of distributed systems architecture.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and version control (Git).
• Exposure to hybrid and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or private cloud).
• Knowledge in applying cyber-security controls and practices aligned to zero-trust architecture principles.

Expected Work Arrangements

• Mon – Fri business hours, 40-hour standard working week, occasional overtime by agreement.
• Canberra (Barton)/Sydney (Pitt Street) based (on-site) required.
• DSN access will be required.

Security Clearance

• Have and maintain a Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance before commencement of work.

Role Information

• Must be an Australian Citizen to Apply.
• 12-Month Initial Contract.
• Hourly Rate.
