About the Role
This position, reporting to the Coordinator Financial & Strategic Accounting, is required to work with various sub-units within the City providing finance business partnering services. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assist with the development of the annual planning, budget preparation and forecasts.
- Undertaking various financial analyses, benchmarking and financial modelling, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of information.
- Prepare cyclical and ad hoc management reports with variance analysis, commentary and trends to targeted audience.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with customers and stakeholders providing advice and guidance on financial accounting matters, in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and accounting practices.
- Contribute to the review and development of the relevant processes and procedures.
- Proposes innovation and business improvement initiatives within area of accountability.
- Maintains relevant registers, databases and systems, ensuring that information meets the City’s needs
- Representing the City in an honest, ethical and professional way, ensuring adherence to the City’s Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrating high and proactive concern for health, safety, environment, community and the City’s reputation.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Relevant university degree in a relevant discipline complemented with qualification with an Australian professional accounting body such as CA or CPA.
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in a similar role.
- Excellent customer service skills with strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Well-developed research and analytical skills within a financial environment.
- Excellent computing, numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the relevant Local Government legislation and regulations
