The Role
We are seeking a Payroll Officer to join a State Government organisation on a 6-month contract (with potential to extend). You will collaborate with a team, supporting fortnightly payroll processing, payroll reporting, and leave and superannuation management. This role is hands-on and suited to someone experienced in high-volume payroll in the Victorian Public Service, with expertise in Chris21 or iChris.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including fortnightly pay runs and adjustments
- Respond to payroll queries and manage the Payroll inbox
- Calculate and process leave, superannuation, deductions, and WorkCover payments
- Ensure compliance with the VPS Enterprise Agreement, payroll tax, and reporting obligations
- Liaise with Finance and external providers for payroll runs, reports, and end-of-month requirements
About You
- Knowledge and experience using Chris21 or iChris (mandatory)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume payroll with accuracy
- Experience working in VicGov payroll environments
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
