About the role
The Return to Work/Injury Management Coordinator is responsible for managing workplace injury cases, workers’ compensation claims, and rehabilitation programs to ensure timely, safe, and sustainable return-to-work outcomes. The role provides professional advice to management, supports employees during recovery, and ensures compliance with relevant legislation across all Australian states and territories.
This is a stand-alone role that partners closely with HR and Payroll while reporting directly to the CFO. It plays a pivotal part in improving workplace safety culture, reducing injury risks, and driving continuous improvement in return-to-work and injury management practices.

Injury & Claims Management
Administer end-to-end workers’ compensation claims, including notifications, case reviews, and insurer liaison.
Coordinate return-to-work plans in consultation with employees, managers, medical practitioners, and insurers.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of injuries, claims, and rehabilitation activities.
Undertake workplace assessments and identify suitable duties or modifications to support recovery.
Monitor claim progress, costs, and outcomes; provide regular reports to CFO and Senior Leadership Team.
Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements in all states and territories.
Return to Work Coordination
Develop and implement safe, sustainable return-to-work programs.
Support employees with both workplace and non-work-related injuries through rehabilitation planning.
Coordinate with Payroll for reimbursements, entitlements, and premium submissions.
Facilitate Employee Assistance Program (EAP) access and other support services.
Conduct reviews of return-to-work strategies and evaluate program effectiveness.
Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Contribution
Provide input into WHS investigations to identify root causes and preventative actions.
Partner with HR, Payroll, and Operations on injury prevention and workplace safety initiatives.
Deliver or support training on injury prevention, safe work practices, and RTW procedures.
Build strong relationships with external agencies (WorkSafe, insurers, rehabilitation providers).
Analyse WHS data and prepare reports for management and WHS Committee.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
Develop consistent processes for injury reporting, claim management, and return-to-work strategies.
Identify trends and make recommendations to reduce LTIs (Lost Time Injuries) and claims costs.
Contribute to policy and procedure reviews, ensuring alignment with best practice and legislation.
Monitor industry changes, emerging trends, and new methodologies in injury management.
Essential Criteria
The ideal candidate is highly motivated and engaging. You will have the ability to multitask, prioritise and work autonomously.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in injury management, return-to-work coordination, or workers’ compensation.
Strong knowledge of WHS and Workers’ Compensation legislation across Australia.
Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of claims and achieve early, safe return-to-work outcomes.
SIRA-accredited Return-to-Work Coordinator training (or equivalent).
Relevant qualification in WHS, Injury Management, or related discipline.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills with ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
High attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage confidential records.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and injury management systems.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience in FMCG, logistics, or other fast-paced environments.
Internal auditing and workplace incident investigation experience.
Exposure to both white- and blue-collar workforces.
Experience implementing new safety and injury prevention initiatives.
