An exciting new opportunity has arisen to support the safeSPACE program at our Carnarvon Centre as a Youth Engagement Officer and Youth Support Officer (YEO and YSO)

safeSPACE is PCYCs early intervention program, aimed at supporting frontline policing priorities and preventing young people from becoming involved in the youth justice system and improving outcomes for those who do. safeSPACE delivers an integrated service offering, both universal and targeted programs to best support young people.

Position Overview:
As a YSO or YEO, your role will involve:

  • Being a positive role model for young people in the community, inspiring and guiding them towards their full potential
  • Supporting the planning, delivery, facilitation, and evaluation of youth programs and activities
  • Creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where young people feel valued and included

About you:

  • Youth-focused - passionate about supporting young people by building positive, professional relationships
  • Supportive and solutions-focused -able to work with young people experiencing challenges and provide them with the necessary support.
  • Culturally Aware - understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Straist Islander young people and the challenges they face
  • Experience in similar role - experience working with children and young people in a similar roles is highly desireable
  • Compliance Ready - hold or willing to obtain a valid Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance within the 6-month period.
