About us
Avon Community Services is a not-for-profit charity that has proudly served Wheatbelt communities for almost 40 years with dedicated youth centres, programs and services. We are passionate about providing opportunities and supporting local young people to meet their needs and aspirations.
About the role
Our Residential Youth Workers support homeless young people aged 15-25 to promote their wellbeing, emotional stability, and the development of life and social skills in preparation for transition and independence.
As a Residential Youth Worker you will:
Provide trauma-informed and inclusive support for diverse young people living in our supported accommodation, which includes cultural safety for Aboriginal young people.
Successfully engage and support young people to build their confidence and participation.
Encourage the development of young people's life and social skills to support their case plan goals towards independence and exiting the service, both through individual support and group programs.
Observe, monitor and report on the progress, wellbeing and safety of young people, including timely and accurate shift notes.
Foster team and stakeholder collaboration and commitment to professional standards.
About you
To thrive in this role you will have:
Dedication to being a positive role model and mentor for young people.
A track record of working with young people in a trauma informed, strengths-based way.
Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to build and maintain rapport and trust, facilitate groups/programs and work effectively with young people and a range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated reliability to work autonomously, without direct supervision, within the parameters of legislative requirements and organisational policies and procedures.
Flexibility to work a set roster, including weekdays, weekends, public holidays, and sleepover shifts.
Successful candidates must have a relevant Certificate IV qualification (or willingness to obtain), maintain a current National Police Clearance, Working With Children Check, and an unrestricted Drivers Licence, First Aid Certificate.
