Gippsland Youth Spaces Inc. (GYS) is a youth-led, community-based charity empowering young people across Gippsland. With a central hub in Morwell and a mobile service model, we deliver programs that strengthen youth voice, connection, and opportunity.
Guided by the Collective Impact model – “nothing about us, without us” – we partner with local councils, Headspace, Berry Street, Lifeline Gippsland, CASA, Relationships Australia, and more to deliver inclusive, safe, and engaging youth programs.
About this opportunity - Team Leader
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Team Leader to lead our local youth delivery team. Based at our Morwell head office, this role combines operational leadership, program delivery, and frontline support.
As Team Leader, you will:
Supervise, mentor, and support youth program staff, volunteers, and placements.
Lead the delivery of engaging, youth-centred programs and activities.
Provide direct support and advocacy to young people, including crisis response.
Ensure compliance with Child Safe Standards, OHS, and organisational policies.
Build strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and funders.
Contribute to program planning, evaluation, and reporting.
This is a hands-on leadership role with regular face-to-face work with young people, travel across Gippsland, and occasional after-hours and on-call duties.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Tertiary qualifications in youth work, social work, community development, education, or related field.
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience, ideally within youth or community services.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage rosters, budgets, and reporting.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with young people and stakeholders.
Knowledge of Child Safe Standards, OHS, and compliance frameworks.
A collaborative, inclusive, and resilient approach.
Compliance requirements: WWCC, Police Check, unrestricted Driver’s Licence, First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain). Food Safety Supervisor/Handling preferred.
