The Opportunity

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our Information & Technology team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our data infrastructure. Your expertise will support various programs in making data-driven decisions, and you will play a key part in optimising our data architecture to meet evolving business needs.

About the role

Are you a hands-on data engineering expert ready to build modern, scalable solutions in a purpose-driven organisation? IBA is modernising its Azure-based data platform using Microsoft Fabric, and we’re looking for a Data Engineer to help design and deliver high-performing, secure, and scalable data solutions that support enterprise analytics and decision-making.

What you’ll bring to the team

• Awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander societies and culture.
• Ability to liaise and communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.
• Tertiary qualifications in IT, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in IT, with 5+ years in Azure Data Warehouse and Data Factory or equivalent.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and Power Platform
• Proficiency in SQL and PySpark,, and exposure to metadata-driven frameworks
• CI/CD and DevOps experience, including Git integration
• Knowledge of lakehouse architecture, delta tables, and modern storage patterns
• Strong experience with Power BI, including semantic models and interactive reports
• Strong communication, collaboration, and adaptability
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (desirable)
