Our client is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer with deep expertise in Data Engineering and Test Data Management (TDM) to join their enterprise technology team. This role is pivotal in driving data engineering strategies, ensuring robust test data management practices, and enabling high-quality, scalable, and compliant data solutions across the organization.

As a Principal Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate closely with stakeholders to design and implement innovative data platforms, pipelines, and frameworks that support business-critical applications and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable data engineering solutions, pipelines, and frameworks across cloud and on-premise environments.

Define and implement Test Data Management strategies, including synthetic data generation, data masking, subsetting, and provisioning to meet testing, compliance, and privacy requirements.

Establish best practices for data quality, security, and governance while ensuring adherence to enterprise standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, APRA, HIPAA).

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architecture, DevOps, QA, business) to align data engineering and TDM solutions with organizational objectives.

Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

Evaluate and introduce emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies that enhance the scalability, automation, and efficiency of data engineering and TDM capabilities.

Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic input on data strategy, technology roadmaps, and architectural decisions.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in data engineering, with proven experience leading enterprise-scale data initiatives.

Prior background in financial services, banking - A MUST.

Strong expertise in cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern data technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, Synapse, Redshift, BigQuery, Kafka.

Hands-on experience with Test Data Management tools (e.g., Delphix, Informatica TDM, GenRocket, IBM InfoSphere Optim) and techniques (masking, synthetic generation, subsetting).

Deep understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, ETL/ELT frameworks, and data integration patterns.

Solid knowledge of data governance, data privacy, and regulatory compliance frameworks.

Proven experience in architecting and scaling enterprise data platforms, including CI/CD integration and automation.

Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior levels.
