About the branch:
The Legal Operations team supports the intake, processing, triage and allocation of Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) applications received via the Agency's external facing ART mailbox. This includes the filing of Tribunal documents within statutory time frames. The team also has accountability for the response coordination of Freedom of Information requests and Complaints related to the ART function.
About the role:
The role is required to undertake administrative and operational tasks using sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures and other guidance material to support the Legal Operations team.
- Analysing and assessing ART Applications received by the Agency.
- Creating and updating records and filing supporting documentation in the Agency's business systems.
- Preparing comprehensive ART case summaries to support matter management and allocation to ART case managers.
- Preparing and filing Tribunal documents as required for ART applications within statutory time frames.
- Providing support for interlocutory applications and instructing internal lawyers to resolve or progress them.
- Assessing and responding to risk from processes, including in terms of privacy considerations and priority.
- Researching and drafting responses for complaints, Ministerial and other documents as required.
- Assisting in the training and mentoring of new starters

What you'll need to succeed:
- Experience working within the ART or dispute resolution environment, highly desirable.
- Paralegal or similar background, highly desirable
- Ability to manage a high caseload of work with competing priorities, meet deadlines and prioritise work in line with risk and due dates.
- The successful candidate may be exposed to confronting information around abuse, harm, and neglect of people with a disability ability.
- Highly organisation, strong attention to detail, and strong analytical skills essential.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Understanding or ability to quickly learn and understand, legislation relevant to the ART Operations team, particularly the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 and the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) Act 2024.
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Criminal History Check, Worker Screening Check and / or Working with Children Check (where required) along with proof of Australian Citizenship.
