Location:
Wadjak Northside Aboriginal Community Resource Centre (Balga, WA) and other locations across the Perth North Metropolitan region as required.
The Casual Mentor Pool provides culturally appropriate mentoring, support, and guidance across a range of community programs, including Elders, Men’s, Women’s and Youth groups. Mentors play an important role in strengthening cultural identity, building positive relationships, and supporting community wellbeing through safe, inclusive, and respectful program delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of Elders, Men’s and Women’s groups in line with program objectives.
Provide mentoring, role modelling and guidance in a culturally safe manner.
Assist participants to engage positively in group activities, discussions, and cultural practices.
Promote respect, safety, and inclusion in all program environments.
Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
Assist with set-up, pack-down and general program administration as required.
Attend training, supervision, and team meetings as directed.
Ensure compliance with Wadjak Northside policies, including Child Safety, Code of Conduct, and Health & Safety requirements.
Selection Criteria
Essential
Demonstrated experience working in community, mentoring, or group support roles.
Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, and community needs.
Ability to engage effectively with diverse age groups, genders, and community members.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility to work across different programs and locations as required.
Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
Current Police Clearance (or ability to obtain).
Desirable
Previous experience supporting Youth, Elders, Men’s, or Women’s groups.
Knowledge of local Aboriginal community networks and services.
First Aid Certificate.
