ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Seat Applications Engineer to join Ford’s Product Development team in Melbourne on a 12 months contract basis with the possibility of extension.

In this role, you will work in a dynamic global environment to:

Engineer robust system designs using the latest quality tools to meet cost, weight, quality, and timing requirements.

Keep up to date with new technologies in the field and apply them where appropriate.

Champion effective communication across stakeholders and act as the Group of 4 representative for seat systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage Body Interior Systems projects for multiple APA programs across regional PD sites, with focus on seating commodities and seat trims.

Oversee and manage suppliers in developing, designing, and releasing Body Interior Systems for new, freshening, top-hat, and TVM programs.

Lead collaboration between engineering, design studio, suppliers, manufacturing, craftsmanship, and FMQ teams to ensure quality delivery.

Act as a technical subject matter expert (“Go-To” person) for seat systems.

Provide recommendations and guidance on Global Design Rules.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum of 5+ years relevant industry experience.

Highly proactive with a demonstrated “can-do” attitude.

Strong emotional maturity and ability to see the big picture.

Driven to achieve the right outcomes for the business.

Skilled in coaching and guiding junior engineers.

Excellent communication skills, adaptable across audiences.
