About Arrahman College
Arrahman College is an innovative and dynamic Islamic school that opened in 2022. In 2026, we will proudly cater for Kindergarten to Year 7, with an anticipated enrolment of 350 students. Located in one of Sydney’s fastest-growing regions, the College is on a clear path to becoming a full K–12 school with a planned capacity of 800 students.
We are committed to creating a supportive and holistic learning environment where staff and students are encouraged to achieve their personal best. Our academic program emphasises STEM, critical thinking, and creativity, while our Islamic ethos ensures a focus on character, wellbeing, and Faith-Based values.
As we expand, we are investing in strong systems of student engagement, wellbeing, and academic support, ensuring every student can thrive.
The Role
We invite applications for the position of Head of Student Engagement and Support Services, with a particular focus on the development and implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) across the College.
This is a full-time leadership role with responsibility for driving whole-school systems that support student learning, wellbeing, and behaviour, ensuring that all students, from those requiring enrichment to those needing targeted interventions, are engaged, supported, and successful.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal, Leadership Team, teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to embed an integrated framework of academic, behavioural, and social-emotional supports.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of a whole-school MTSS framework that promotes positive behaviour, engagement, and learning outcomes for all students.
Provide tiered support systems including universal programs, targeted interventions, and individualised plans.
Develop and oversee processes for the early identification of students at risk (academic or behavioural) and coordinate timely, evidence-based interventions.
Build teacher capability through professional learning, coaching, and mentoring on effective student engagement and classroom support strategies.
Establish collaborative systems for monitoring student progress, using data-driven decision-making to guide interventions and measure effectiveness.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with families, caregivers, and community services to support student wellbeing.
Ensure that the Islamic ethos and values of the College are reflected in all aspects of student support and engagement.
Contribute to the strategic planning of the College, particularly in areas related to wellbeing, engagement, and inclusive education.
Lead the Student Support Team (including counsellors, learning support, and wellbeing staff) in developing proactive and coordinated services.
Support compliance with NESA requirements and ensure best practice in child safety and student protection.
Essential Criteria
Demonstrated commitment to the Islamic ethos and values of Arrahman College.
NESA-accredited teacher (Proficient or above), with relevant qualifications in education, special education, psychology, counselling, or a related field.
Significant experience in leading or coordinating student wellbeing, learning support, or behaviour management programs in a school setting.
Strong knowledge and practical experience in implementing MTSS, PBIS, or Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks.
Proven capacity to analyse and use student data to inform decisions, track progress, and evaluate interventions.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire staff and build collaborative partnerships.
A strong understanding of inclusive education practices and strategies for engaging diverse learners.
A proven commitment to child safety and the ability to model ethical, confidential, and professional practice.
Desirable Criteria
Postgraduate study or professional learning in educational leadership, special education, or student wellbeing.
Experience in working within an Islamic school context.
Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams to support student learning and wellbeing.
Familiarity with evidence-based programs and approaches for behaviour support, social-emotional learning, and academic intervention.
Flexibility of Duties
While the primary focus of this role is leading the College’s Student Engagement and Support Services, including the implementation of MTSS, the successful applicant may also be required to teach related subjects or undertake other reasonable teaching or support duties to meet the operational needs of the College.
Benefits
Be part of a College at the forefront of innovation and growth in education.
Inclusive, Faith-Based, and supportive workplace culture.
Access to a College laptop and modern resources.
Salary sacrifice arrangements and child tuition fee discounts.
Professional development opportunities, including study leave (where applicable).
Remuneration: Salary will align with the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025 at the successful applicant's level of responsibility and experience.
