Our Company: Honeywill Consulting was founded in 2014, providing professional project and cost management services, with a focus primarily in the Education sector. We have three offices, one in Brisbane, one in the Gold Coast, as well as our office in the Sunshine Coast (Maroochydore).
Cost Management Team: Our Quantity Surveying team has been based in the Sunshine Coast Office since 2021 which also includes the North Coast Project Management Team. We initially only provided in-house Quantity Surveying Services to Honeywill Consulting’s Project Managers on Education projects, but we now also service a healthy external client portfolio, working for External Project Management firms, Architects and Local Councils. This has evolved into working on a broader range of projects with opportunities in new sectors.
The Role
We are seeking an additional Professional Registered Quantity Surveyor to enable our team to adequately manage our current works loads and provide the additional resource needed take on the opportunities in new sectors.
Purpose: The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for providing cost advice and cost control to our clients from initial feasibility to post construction services, that is informed and meets the client’s objectives.

The key responsibilities include:
Preparation of a master plan estimates benchmarked from previous projects on a m2 basis.
Preparation of elemental estimates using the AIQS elemental method of estimating for sketch design and detailed design estimates, including forecast escalation allowances and value engineering as required.
Preparation of Bills of Quantities in accordance with the ANZSMM on select projects.
Life cycle cost considerations and cost advice.
Cost reports, including actual and forecast cashflows.
Providing advice on the procurement strategies available & financial risk considerations based on project location and local market conditions.
Assessing tender returns against the pre‐tender estimate and providing a recommendation highlighting clarifications and financial risks of each prospective tender, including post tender negotiations as required.
Recording price fluctuations identified through quotations and tender submissions that can be utilised for future estimating.
Assessing contractual requirements are met by the appointed contractor such as insurances, forms of security and compliance with the BIFF Act.
Preparing monthly progress payments and payment recommendations in review of progress claims against progress on site and contractual allowances.
Reviews and recommendations on contractual claims for additional work, provisional sum adjustment and extensions of time with costs as required.
Preparation of final accounts and clients financial close out report summaries
Assisting in maintaining rates databases.
Assist in developing our systems and process for consistency and future growth.
Selection Criteria:
Appropriate tertiary degree qualified (Quantity Surveying, Cost Management) - Minimum University Qualification.
Intermediate to advanced competencies with CostX and all Microsoft office suites - specifically Excel.
AIQS/RICS Member grade or equivalent.
2 years professional experience as a Quantity Surveyor in Queensland.
Positive Attitude and Outlook.
Demonstrated career achievement.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
Proven organisational skills and an ability to meet deadlines whilst working in a high-volume project environment.
Experience in building (not civil) or Education sector.
Demonstrated experience in measurement of multiple building trades.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently whilst contributing as a key team member.
