The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Registered Nurses (Cardiac Catheter Suite) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Have either Cardiac, Intensive Care Unit or Emergency Department experience
• Participate in the pre, intra and post procedural care of patients in the recovery area
• Undertake the scrub, scout and documentation roles within the lab areas, after suitable training
• Participate in the 24/7 on-call roster when suitably trained

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Permanent Part time (several positions, hrs negotiable)
• Base salary ranging from $41.73 - $53.53 per hour

About Us

The Cardiac Catheter Suite offers a great environment, team support and development, operating Monday to Friday from 07:00-18:00 hours to perform elective and urgent patient procedures. After hours on call service is provided for emergencies seven days per week. Procedures are scheduled electively for patients coming from home and urgently for those already admitted via emergency into the Inpatient Unit or in another hospital. The department provides a 12 bed, 5 chair recovery space into which patients are admitted prior to and post procedure. Where appropriate, same day diagnostic and interventional procedures (pacemaker battery exchanges) are performed for patients coming from home after a pre-admission assessment ensures optimal patient preparation. This ensures a holistic patient approach in which risks are minimised for the individual.

The CCS is located within the Gold Coast University Hospital. It is adjacent to the clinical measurements department in close proximity to the Intensive Care Unit and Cardiology wards.
