Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate RF and SATCOM systems for defence and secure communications.

• Lead systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, system architecture, design documentation, and verification planning.

• Draft and manage ASDEFCON-compliant documentation across the full lifecycle: requirements, design, testing, and acceptance.

• Perform link budget analysis, RF propagation studies, and system performance evaluations.

• Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of SATCOM terminals and ground stations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, mechanical, and project engineers.

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, test plans, and user manuals.

• Engage with ADF stakeholders to ensure compliance with defence standards and protocols.

• Stay current with emerging technologies and defence communication standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Systems Engineering, or related field.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in RF/SATCOM engineering, with at least 2 years in a defence or ADF-related environment.

• Demonstrated experience in systems engineering and drafting ASDEFCON documentation.

• Strong understanding of satellite communications architectures, RF systems, and modulation techniques.

• Experience with ASDEFCON, and other defence-specific standards.

• Familiarity with tactical and strategic SATCOM systems used by the ADF.

• Proficiency in RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc.).

• Ability to obtain or currently hold an Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1 or higher preferred).

• Experience with satellite ground station design and deployment.

• Knowledge of IP networking and cybersecurity in SATCOM environments.

• Project management experience in defence or government projects.
