East Coast Apprenticeships is a long-standing Group Training Organisation (GTO) employing apprentices and trainees across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay. Position Overview
We are seeking a Finance & Payroll Officer to join our Brisbane Metro team (working out of Strathpine Head Office) in a full-time capacity.
The role will support the Financial Accountant with accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, payroll, fleet & facilities coordination and other reporting functions.
Key responsibilities will be:
- Payroll preparation (with the full-time Payroll Officer) and processing
- Processing invoices and assist with accounts payable and receivable functions
- Supporting purchasing, debtor management, incentive claims and bonus administration functions.
- Entering financial data into accounting management platform and other systems
- Undertaking routine reconciliations under direction of the Financial Accountant
- Assisting with filing, records management, and general financial administration
- Supporting the Financial Accountant with preparation of financial report entry and audit preparation tasks as directed
- Ensuring compliance with finance procedures and record-keeping requirements.
- Maintaining accurate employee records and payroll data in accordance with audit and legislative requirements.
Key Skills Required
Previous experience in financial administration, payroll or an accounting support role is required, along with familiarity in accounting management platforms and/or similar accounting software. Knowledge of modern awards and the ability to them is integral to role success.
You will need to bring:
· Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
· Sound organisational and time management skills.
· Ability to follow procedures and work under direction.
· Customer service focus with effective communication skills.
· Minimum 3yrs experience in a similar role that includes payroll.
· Knowledge of modern awards to assist in answering payroll queries.
This position requires a collaborative approach - with a focus on teamwork, achieving shared organisational goals and ongoing compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Experience in using MYOB Acumatica (Advanced) and Astute Payroll will be viewed favourably, as will holding a formal bookkeeping/finance qualification.

Up to ten performnace days off (PDOs) between February-November each year (1 PDO per month commencing after three months employment)
