The Pillars is Sydney’s only 5-star luxury private members’ club, and we are seeking a talented and ambitious Sous-Chef to join our team. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something truly special – a role designed to grow with the right candidate as our food offering expands.

The Role

You will start by creating and executing refined canapé menus for our private events and member functions, which currently include Cockatil & Canapé events, Cheese & Charcuterie boards, grazing platters, and light boardroom dining. As our offering at The Pillars evolves, you will play a key role in shaping breakfast, lunch and dinner services, menu design, and leading a growing kitchen team.

Responsibilities

Design and execute creative, seasonal canapé menus and event platters for members of The Pillars.

Ensure food presentation meets 5-star luxury standards – refined, elegant, and memorable.

Manage kitchen operations, including stock control and cost of goods.

Contribute to future menu development across breakfast, lunch, and club dining.

Uphold the highest standards of food safety, compliance, and hygiene.

Lead and inspire junior kitchen staff as the team grows.

About You

Previous experience as a Sous-Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a fine-dining, luxury hotel, or premium event environment.

Strong menu development skills, with creativity and a flair for balance of flavour and presentation.

Solid understanding of cost control, supplier management, and kitchen efficiency.

Passion for refined event catering (canapés, grazing, and intimate dining experiences).

Ambition to grow into a leadership role as our culinary offering expands.

Professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
