About the Position
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head Chef to take the lead in a bustling kitchen at one of Canberra's most talked-about venues. Offering $90-110K (depending on experience), you'll oversee menu design, daily operations, and team leadership while ensuring consistency at volume. Perfect for a chef who thrives in a hands-on role, loves pairing food with great drinks, and wants to drive creativity and efficiency in a respected venue.
Position Description
Lead all aspects of kitchen operations across a high-volume venue
Design and implement seasonal menus to align with the venue's food philosophy
Manage and mentor a team of chefs and kitchen hands
Oversee cost control, COGs, and labor management to meet business targets
Ensure compliance with WHS, food safety, and hygiene standards
Collaborate closely with FOH and management to deliver a seamless guest experience
Position Requirements
Proven experience as a Head Chef in a high-volume hospitality venue
Strong leadership and team development skills
Excellent understanding of food costing, rostering, and operational efficiency
Creativity and passion for pairing food with drinks in a modern, casual dining setting
Ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced service environments
Trade qualifications in Commercial Cookery (Cert III or equivalent)
