Townsville Catholic Education Office (TCEO) is seeking an experienced and dedicated Educational Data & Innovation Technologies Manager. This role is a full time, permanent position and will commence on 12 January 2026.
About the role
Reporting to the Director - Mission and Learning and working alongside the Senior Manager - ITS, the Educational Data & Innovation Technologies Manager is focused on leading and supporting the effective use of educational information management systems, building capacity and understanding of educational data and engaging with key stakeholders to promote innovative approaches to education.
The Educational Data & Innovation Technologies Manager develops and leads change implementation for education systems, data and the overarching policy and procedures that schools use to maintain and manage information systems. They will also engage with key stakeholders across the TCE Diocese and external stakeholders to facilitate the successful operationalisation of innovative educational approaches.
The Educational Data & Innovation Technologies Manager will also promote, train and plan for the online delivery of professional development and training through the preferred provider.
Key Accountabilities
Plan, advise and support program delivery to facilitate access to centralised teaching and learning systems, resolve operational obstacles and identify improvement opportunities for future innovation design and execution within TCE.
Champion online learning initiatives to both internal and external stakeholders. Serve as the central point of contact, managing all internal communications about online learning opportunities. Aim to inform, educate, understand, and respond effectively to drive engagement and adoption.
Advise and support school leaders and teachers on leading innovative educational practices in TCE schools.
Establish and refine TCE systems and processes to support efficient and effective user experiences and to enable a standardised, repeatable and scalable approach to innovation.
Manage and maintain effective key stakeholder relationships, networks and interdependencies to support a future-focused approach to education.
Lead and supervise the Education Systems Support (ESS) team to support enhanced approaches to systems that help schools record and manage data to ensure quality service outcomes for students, teachers, employees, and schools.
Work with and support inter-directorate teams to lead and develop digital professional learning opportunities to build the capabilities of all staff.
Lead the ongoing identification and acquisition of relevant data to evaluate and enhance TCEO, schools, and classroom teaching practices. Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to drive improvements in student learning outcomes.
Lead the implementation, management and adjustment of the existing TCE Data Hub Dashboards to maintain and improve usefulness and usability by working closely with the Knowledge and Application Team (KAT), Learning and Teaching Team and schools.
Provide strategic, specialist advice and support to schools and TCEO regarding the purpose and use of relevant data.
Leverage contemporary research, learning data, and educational policies to guide and shape future innovation priorities and process improvements for TCE. Provide strategic insights to drive continuous advancement.
Contribute to and support the TCE Enterprise project management processes.
Lead or assist in various project activities and programs as required.
Represent Townsville Catholic Education on the CENET eLearning Working Group, Catholic Learning Online (CLO), Catholic Network Australia Education Reference Group and Queensland Catholic Education Directors Online Learning Network.
Provide strategic, specialist advice and support to schools and TCEO regarding the purpose and use of relevant data.
About You
Experience
Experience in digital technologies leadership in schools (Catholic schools highly desirable)
Experience in managing projects and leading teams through change
Experience with project management and change management frameworks
Experience with Learning Management Systems
Skills
Highly developed communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
Demonstrated ability to lead, energise, mobilise and inspire to achieve goals
Well-developed problem-solving, creative thinking and conflict-resolution skills with the ability to facilitate and navigate difficult conversations
Excellent stakeholder engagement, relationship development, written and verbal communication skills
Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other
Tertiary qualifications in education, with post graduate qualification in a relevant field preferred
Registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Queensland College of Teachers
Current Driver’s Licence
Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
Desirable Criteria
Experience in managing and implementing an innovation and/or change process within education is highly desirable
Experience in hybrid learning or digital learning delivery models/systems highly regarded.
