POSITION DETAILS

  • Full-Time, Permanent)
  • Classification: Registered Nurse Level 3: $125,515 - $132,352 per annum (pro rata if part-time) + Superannuation OR
  • Classification: Health Professional Level Level 3: $114,272 - $129,941 per annum (pro rata if part-time) + Superannuation

ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE

As the Clinical Lead for Universal Aftercare, you will draw on your discipline specific skills to provide clinical oversight, supervision and leadership to a multidisciplinary team. This will include reviewing referrals, providing clinical advice, facilitating case reviews and providing education to the team. As a Registered Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurse or AASW-eligible Social Worker, you will facilitate robust clinical governance within the service and team. You will work closely with the Service Manager and be responsible for clinical and incident risk management, maintaining and enhancing urgent care and escalation protocols regarding risk and complexity.

Funded by the South Western Sydney Primary Health Network, Universal Aftercare is a non-clinical, psychosocial support service that provides follow-up care to people after a suicidal crisis or suicide attempt.

Universal Aftercare provides empathetic and non-judgemental connection and psychosocial support during this difficult time to people and their families and carers. Universal Aftercare is delivered in the form of assertive outreach in the community for a period of up to three months. People accessing the program receive individually tailored support to people to connect them to both clinical and community-based services to meet their needs, while also enhancing connection to supportive local networkssuch as family, friends, peers and carers.

Universal Aftercare focuses on promoting strength and resilience and improving the capacity of consumers to identify the drivers of distress, manage distress and improve overall wellbeing

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Formal tertiary qualifications in Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or related
  • Current full registration as an Enrolled Nurse/Registered Nurse/Nurse Practitioner with current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), OR
  • Currentfull registration as a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse with current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), OR
  • Current full registration as a Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or be eligible to hold membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Position Description - Essential Requirements

The Clinical Lead will be expected to be a Registered Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurse or Social Worker with a current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency essential, or a Social Worker with eligibility to register with the Australian Association of Social Work.

  • Substantial work experience delivering interventions with consumers experiencing distress, suicidality and/or mental health challenges.
  • A strong understanding of supporting people experiencing emotional distress through their recovery journey; and an ability to articulate and promote the value of and strengths gainedfrom lived experiences of recovery
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of service development, integration, and a thorough understanding of existing community services and mental health services systems
  • Proven ability to use initiative and encourage collaborative teamwork, maintain confidentiality and build trust to deal with sensitive and difficult situations in an empathetic manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of a diverse range of people.
  • Engage consumers, using a strengths-based approach.
  • Experience working with client information systems, maintaining accurate documentation and data collection.
  • Uphold ethical behaviour, consistent with the values of honesty, fairness, responsibility and hope
  • Demonstrate integrity, credibility and ability to foster open communication
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and to prioritise multiple tasks to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to establish respectful professional relationships that have clear boundaries
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust to deal with sensitive and difficult situations in an empathetic manner.
  • Ability to work productively in a fast paced, changing and agile environment
  • Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of a diverse range of people.
  • Demonstrate self-awareness and ability to reflect and handle feedback well and learn from it
  • Strong computer and organisation skills including the ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams and PowerPoint

Desirable

  • Post Graduate qualifications in Mental Health
  • Mental Health accreditation
  • Held positions of leadership in a mental health service setting
  • Work experience delivering psychosocial interventions with consumers experiencing mental health challenges
  • Experience supporting consumers and helping navigate to referral pathways or knowledge of referral pathways and the local community services sector
  • Adequately trained in mental health assessment and referral skills; and
  • Experience using crisis intervention techniques and escalation procedures
