About Joe Wagner Group

Celebrating 40 years of operation in 2025, Joe Wagner Group (JWG) is a proudly family-owned and operated civil construction and rail infrastructure company headquartered in Toowoomba, Queensland, with additional operations in Brisbane and regional project sites across QLD, NSW, and expanding into WA.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for a full-time Senior Estimator based in Toowoomba, QLD.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and working closely with our experienced Senior Estimator in Brisbane, you’ll be instrumental in preparing and coordinating tenders for a range of mid-sized infrastructure projects across civil, drainage, rail and renewables.

You’ll be central to connecting with clients, understanding scope, engaging the market, and delivering high-quality tenders

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leading preparation of tenders for civil infrastructure, rail, and renewables

Reviewing project documents and identifying scope, risks, and opportunities

About You

To qualify, you will need a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying, and 5 years’ civil estimating experience in the Australian market. You must hold a current Australian driver’s licence and a general construction induction (White/Blue Card).

We are seeking someone who understands how to price a project end-to-end, and who brings a practical understanding of how infrastructure is built — not just from behind a screen.

Additionally, the following skills and experience are highly valued:

Expert Estimation software (essential)

MS Project or P6 for programming

AutoCAD or similar for drawings

BoQ validation and first-principles estimation

Familiarity with TMR and council specifications

Strong stakeholder communication and negotiation skills

CRM, bid systems and structured estimating processes

As our ideal candidate, you're collaborative, commercially astute and regionally grounded. You value relationships, enjoy mentoring others, and thrive in a culture of clarity, ownership, and follow-through.

About the Benefits

This is a pivotal role in a company that respects your expertise and gives you space to lead.

Your total compensation includes:

Competitive salary: from $180,000, based on experience

Company vehicle with reasonable private use

Phone, laptop, and necessary tools of trade

Relocation support for the right candidate

Professional development and mentorship opportunities

A role with genuine impact, autonomy, and visibility

Inclusion in a team that values connection, clarity, and collaboration

Projects spanning rail, local government, wind/solar infrastructure, and more

While the role is based in Toowoomba, travel is occasional and always supported. You'll be empowered to connect locally, build relationships, and represent JWG’s regional capability with confidence.

Ready to Apply?

If you’re ready to join a team that recognises what matters, delivers with precision, and thrives in a people-first environment, this could be the ideal next step in your career.
