Manbulloo is proud to deliver the best fruit to customers within Australia and overseas too. Supported by a committed R&D capacity, from flowering to supermarket shelves the focus on premium quality is unparalleled.
The Roles
We are currently seeking 2 seasonal packhouse managers responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of sorting, grading, and packing fruit in preparation for transport for the upcoming harvest season at our Katherine NT farms.
Expect to work 5-6 days a week, subject to harvest schedule and weather, so once you're into it, there'll be plenty to keep you occupied.
Ideally you'll have packhouse experience but if you've had experience and enjoy managing diverse busy teams, this could be a great fit for you. Technical training and support around process and quality is available, so if mangos are a little outside of your experiences, don't worry.
Reporting to the National Packhouse Operations Manager, the role involves:
Planning and allocating staff.
Overseeing quality and productivity
Ensuring team members have the knowledge and confidence to perform their tasks
Oversight of work and admin
Reacting to
Liaising with others to share information and coordinate activities
The Seasons
The roles start with the start of harvest, and finish when it is over. The local NT harvest seasons are typically early September through to December, quickly ramping up so that by October it's flat out - you won't get bored!
If you are interested in other locations afterwards, please let us know. If you find that you like it and want to return for a few seasons in one or more locations, that's great too!
You
To succeed you will need
Staff supervision experience and interpersonal skills
To love working in a busy environment with lots to think about and do.
To work comfortably and harmoniously within a multicultural team.
A proactive approach to learning, supporting and guiding the people around you
A calm, positive attitude, good communications skills and willingness to do the job efficiently and effectively.
To want to be based for a couple of months in an authentic remote location - it's pretty hot and 3 hours to Darwin, a wonderful life experience to remember.
Ideally you will have worked in a similar environment before, but it is not necessary so long as you are keen to learn, responsible, and happy working at a fast pace with lots going on around you.
