We are seeking motivated and experienced Policy Officers (APS6 and EL1 levels) who are looking for a new opportunity in the Federal Government. These roles offer the opportunity to contribute to the development, analysis and implementation of key government policies in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Successful candidates may be offered opportunities across a range of policy areas, depending on agency priorities and emerging needs.

Key Responsibilities

APS6 Policy Officer

Contribute to the development, analysis, and evaluation of policy proposals and initiatives.

Undertake research and prepare briefings, reports and discussion papers.

Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including other government agencies.

Support senior staff in delivering policy advice to government.

Manage small projects or work streams independently.

EL1 Senior Policy Officer

Lead the development of complex policy advice and options for government consideration.

Provide strategic analysis and manage sensitive policy matters.

Represent the agency in stakeholder forums and interdepartmental committees.

Mentor junior policy officers and contribute to building policy capability.

Oversee or manage projects and coordinate work across teams.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in candidates who demonstrate:

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience in policy development or program management in a government or similar setting.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Understanding of the machinery of government and policy development processes.

Eligibility

Australian citizenship is required.

A Baseline security clearance (or ability to obtain one) may be necessary depending on the role.

Relevant qualifications and/or experience in public policy, economics, law, social sciences, or a related field are highly desirable.
