The Opportunity

The position is available as a 12-month hourly rate contract, with the potential to be permanent, as it is a newly created position. You’ll work closely with an experienced and supportive APS6 and EL1, making this an ideal opportunity to grow your APS career.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing expert financial and management accounting support, and compliance with government frameworks
• Supporting Financial Operations, including AP and AR
• Preparing and monitoring budgets, to track expenditure against forecasts and provide variance analysis
• Assisting with month-end financial processes, financial modelling, and analysis
• Managing stakeholder relationships by providing financial insights and supporting teams through budgetary and operational changes
• Ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

The Ideal Person

You will bring a solid understanding of budgeting principles within the APS and be familiar with the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework. You may come from one of the following backgrounds:

• APS6-level experience as a budgeting or management accountant, with stable tenure and a proven track record
• Experience in a Big 4 or consulting firm supporting federal government clients
• High-performing commercial sector candidate with internal budgets, FBP, or management accountant experience

To be eligible, you must be an Australian citizen.

Salary / Rate

• $65/hr - $80/hr + Super
• 12-month hourly rate contract
• WFH flexibility
• Centrally located Office
